2 New 22000 uf 80v CDE Main Filter Capacitors for Pioneer SX-950 EXACT FIT 50mm
Up for sale here is this set of 2 brand new Cornell-Dubilier 22000 uf 80v capacitors. These are drop-in replacements for the Pioneer SX-850, SX-950, SX-980, and SX-1010. They fit the old clamps perfectly! These are the same capacitors I use when I am rebuilding vintage Pioneer gear. These measure 50mm in diameter and 65mm tall. Each capacitor has five terminals, but you only need to use two of them. There are two positive, two negative, and one dummy lug. These are a bit shorter than the original caps, and have a bit more capacitance than some of the originals, but they are perfect replacements and will work great. Please see my pictures for details. A note about installation: Main filter capacitors are usually used to provide the positive and negative rails to the amplifier section, so one of them will appear to be wired backwards (with positive to chassis ground). This is normal. Before you replace your capacitors, take some clear pictures of the wiring so you will know how to connect the new ones. If your equipment starts blowing fuses after replacing the main filter capacitors, you probably wired one backwards. US shipping and handling is $10, and international is $28. Pioneer NEW AM Antenna Mount / Base SX-950 1050 1250 1010
New 3D printed Pioneer SX-950 / SX-1250 / etc. AM antenna mount. We have two receivers where these mounts were broken so we whipped up a few new mounts on the 3D printer. They worked better than expected so we made a few more in case someone else needed one. These are a much simpler design than the factory mount. The base mounts flush with the back panel and does not stick inside. There is no spring, instead the ball pivot snaps in with some force and friction holds it at the desired position. We only really wanted it to keep the antenna in place without it flopping around the back of the receiver, it’s not like we move the AM antenna around a lot. See pictures and installation shots on an SX-950. We used an SX-1250 base and ball pivot as templates, so I am certain it works with that model too. We took a close look at an SX-1010 and it certainly looks the same as the 950 and 1250, but we didn’t try installing one because it wasn’t broken and we didn’t want to anger it. Pioneer SX-950 Amp Board Rebuild Kit AWH-050 Recap & Repair Kit Complete!
Up for sale here is this AWH-050 amplifier board rebuild set for a Pioneer SX-950. This is all the parts you need to rebuild a Pioneer SX-950 amplifier board. Over time the amp boards start developing issues with transistors and capacitors, and sometimes completely blow up. The old parts are weak and failing. We will make them new again! This kit includes all 8 capacitors, all 12 transistors, and all 4 trimmers. It does NOT include the big white resistors, any other resistors, or any output transistors. I have new OnSemi MJ21195G/MJ21196G outputs listed here if you need them, and I have the big white emitter resistors available here. The entire amp board uses 8 outputs (4 pairs), and you should replace all 4 on the channel if you are replacing any. Please don’t buy any of the Chinese output transistors on eBay–those are counterfeit and will blow up. These are extremely high-quality parts, the same ones I use when I rebuild Pioneer gear. The capacitors are Nichicon PW, Nichicon KT, and Wima film caps at the correct uf and the same or higher voltage ratings, the trimmers are new Bourns trimmers, and the transistors are Fairchild/Onsemi and are the correct subs for the original transistors. Frankly, “recapping” is a waste of time if you’re not going to replace the transistors as well. A lot of times the transistors age worse than the caps, so you should definitely change out the transistors while you’re in there. If you’re having amp board issues, it’s very likely to be a transistor issue. If your amplifier board has actually “blown up” and you see smoke marks and blackened components, those are most likely resistors and will need to be replaced as well. I will include a surprisingly well-written instruction sheet, but this is a pretty complicated repair, so if you don’t have much experience with this, buy the kit and take it to a professional. You should definitely have a fair amount of soldering experience and have a decent soldering iron, a dim-bulb tester, and heat-sink compound, as well as the usual tools. I see them frequently now for restoration work so I know exactly what they need at this time in their lives. Service needs change over time. When a lovely piece like this gets to forty years old, it needs some general help. Most of the 950’s that come in for service are not outright blown up. They frequently work…..somewhat. They are, however, full of old capacitors, noisy signal path transistors, heat fatigued voltage regulators, and bad relays. Of course, they are in dire need of cleaning and alignment. This sort of job can be undertaken by a qualified technician or a serious hobbyist. Of course it helps to have the precise parts needed in hand, along with their precise locations. This kit is meant to supply that need. It is not a “paint by number” for those with no experience, but with moderate test equipment and some technical skill and patience, good results can be had. Recommended Test Equipment: Multimeter, Variac (5 amp or greater) may be had right here on eBay starting at $41.84, an oscilloscope is useful if you need to trace a lost signal, it is rarely needed for this job. The service manual is invaluable and may be had on line. Try HiFi engine. The kit includes the standard and usual parts required on the following boards. The parts will be in individual bags for each board. There will be a list of parts for each of these boards with schematic designation. There will be a procedural tip sheet. You will find the tip sheet to be very useful as it will contain a lot of information derived from the service experience on this model for forty years. This kit is not guaranteed to solve any and all problems. If your unit has an outright defect, it may be something other than the standard and usual. Great care should be taken to get polarities and transistor basing correct. Careful and tidy workmanship pays off. Be prepared to trouble shoot if you make a mistake or have additional problems. They may be blue or they may be black. The parts count for the PC Boards is 73, with 2 filters, it is 75 total. The capacitors in the kit will vary but will be selected from the following: Power supply applications will be mainly Nichicon VZ and PW. On the other boards, they will be Nichicon FG, KW, FW, KT, VZ or Elna Cerafine or Silmic II. Offbrand or Chinese capacitors are carefully avoided. The semiconductors in the kit will be well vetted substitutes for the original Japanese numbers. I have been using all of these parts for quite some time, and they perform very well. The kit does not contain lamps as some folks want incandescent and others want LED so lamps should be purchased separately. The kit does not contain tuner section parts as tuner work should only be attempted by tuner experts. The kit does contain the power supply filter capacitors. They will be solder terminal and will mount the same as the originals. When all of these parts are replaced, and the unit is cleaned up and alignments are done, reliability is enhanced, and the sonic quality is astounding. They knew how to do stereo back in the old days.
